Driton Latifi (born 29 January 1978 in Pristina, Yugoslavia, now Kosovo) is a Kosovar and Albanian sports journalist. He was the youngest sports news editor at 21 years of age when he took the sports news editor job in 1999 at the Koha Ditore newspaper in Pristina. There he started his journalist career in 1997. Before that, he published his first stories at the weekly sports magazine Sport Plus in 1995/96.

Career

In 1998 he began following the Albania national football team that became a real interesting story for all Kosovars and Albanians living abroad. In 2000 he took part at the World sports media conference in Denmark, Play the game ([1]). He came back at Play the game also in 2002. In both of his appearances he held speeches about the life of Kosovar athletes from 1991, when Kosovo was an autonomous province of Serbia.

In 2002 he interviewed the first and the last Kosovar football player, Naim Kryeziu that won Serie A championship with AS Roma back at 1942. In 2004 he followed the UEFA Euro 2004 in Portugal, where he produced some interesting articles like interviews with David Beckham, etc. and he was following a top story about Kosovar Milaim Rama that was playing for Switzerland.

In September 2004 he moved to a new job at the Lajm newspaper in Pristina, where he is still working as sports news editor. In 2006 he followed the FIFA World Cup in Germany, from there he reported with some interviews with Ronaldinho, Robinho, Juninho, Roberto Carlos, Nakata, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Edwin van der Sar, Arjen Robben, Van Persie, Francesco Totti, Genaro Gattuso, Simone Perotta, Thierry Henry, Valon Behrami, Hakan Yakin, Blerim Xhemajli, etc.

From 2007 until 2010 he was sports analyst for the TV channel RTV 21 and its sports programme, "2 me 1", which runs every Sunday night. In 2008 in followed UEFA Euro 2008 in Switzerland and Austria, interviews with Thierry Henry, Valon Behrami, etc. In June 2010, he left Daily "Lajm" and from January 2011 he started a new job at Daily "Zeri" in Pristina, as Sports news editor. He did investigative journalism about the privatization of KF Prishtina, Football Federation of Kosovo, Football Federation of Albania and other problems of sports in Kosovo. Since December 2012, he is CEO of International Sport Group (www.isg-ks.com) and is owner of the two biggest web portals www.sporti1.com and www.veqsport.com. He is part-time sports analyst for TV stations KLAN Kosova, Top Channel and Super Sport Kosova.

Personal

Latifi lives in Pristina, is married and has three children: son, Andi, and two daughters, Lisa and Oria.
