He finished his senior year with a 4–5 record and a 4.40 ERA, leading the Warhawks with 86 strikeouts in 86 innings pitched.

The Oakland Athletics selected Granier in the 32nd round of the 2011 MLB draft. In 2012, pitching for the Burlington Bees of the Midwest League, Granier had 11 wins, a 3.21 ERA, and 167 strikeouts. He began the 2013 season with the Stockton Ports of the Class A-Advanced California League.
