Song information

In "Down with the Clique", Aaliyah and R. Kelly address those who are part of or who admire their clique. In the song's context,"down" means in favor of, playing off the contemporary phrase, "You down (to play ball, go to the movies, etc.)?" The song was originally titled "Who's In Her Clique?" before being changed to "Down with the Clique" taken from the lyrics "If you down with the clique let me hear you say..I'm down with it".

Due to the controversy surrounding Aaliyah & R. Kelly's relationship at the time, no further singles were released from Age Ain't Nothing But A Number In the United States.

Music video

A music video was produced to promote the single. It is a compilation of Aaliyah's previous videos and footage from photoshoots.
