The etymology of its Hindi name is dho ("two") and pahad ("hill").

Population

The total population of the village is approximately 2000 to 2500. The village economy depends on agriculture and its two water ponds, Yerra Cheruvu and Vusikabaikunta. The water flows from Nagarjunasagar's left canal.
