  • Recognition

  • Controversies

The Douglas County School District is a central feature of the documentary Education Inc., which includes information on the pro-charter school and pro-voucher school board majority was elected in 2009. As a consequence, teacher exodus increased from 10.2 percent to 16.7 percent in the 2014-15 school year. In the 2013-14 school year, it had been as high as 17.3 percent. The new school board also launched a voucher program that diverted funds from public schools to private schools, including religious ones. The school board's free-market philosophy also launched protests by parents and students.

    Contents

In 2015, the Colorado Supreme Court struck down Douglas County's school voucher program as violating the state constitution.
