Beautiful hong kong series double haven


Double Haven or Yan Chau Tong (Chinese: 印洲塘) is a harbour hugged by Double Island, Crescent Island and Crooked Island with north-eastern New Territories, Hong Kong. Major parts of the haven falls within Yan Chau Tong Marine Park to protect the wildlife of the marine creatures. It is renowned for its scenery and unspoilt natural beauty, and for its calm seas even during stormy weather, thus the English name. Double Haven contains many deep red coloured rocks because of iron oxide.

Conservation

Plover Cove (Extension) Country Park was designated in 1979 to protect the ecology of Double Haven. It also forms a major part of Hong Kong Global Geopark, Northeast New Territories Sedimentary Rock Region.

  • A ferry service runs between Ma Liu Shui Ferry Pier (15 minute walk from University Station (MTR) and Lai Chi Wo which sails across Double Haven on Sunday and Public Holidays.
  • Hiking route from Wu Kau Tang to Lai Chi Wo can overlook the spectacular landscape of the Double Haven.
