Dobbins Heights is located at 34°54′12″N 79°41′28″W (34.903388, -79.691220).

Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 936 people, 383 households, and 224 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,047.0 people per square mile (406.1/km²). There were 474 housing units at an average density of 530.2/sq mi (205.6/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 13.68% White, 83.33% African American, 1.18% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.75% from other races, and 0.85% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.85% of the population.
There were 383 households out of which 26.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 26.4% were married couples living together, 25.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.5% were non-families. 37.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 3.25.
In the town, the population was spread out with 31.0% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who were 65 years of age or older.
