Synopsis

The Directorio Estudiante Universitario (DEU) was founded in 1927 in Cuba against the back drop of constitutional reforms pushed forward by President Gerardo Machado to prolong and extend his presidential term. The DEU held various protests against Machado’s regime and was at the political forefront of the One Hundred Days government led by Ramon Grau.
