Synthesis
3,3'-Dinitrobisphenol A can be synthesized by the drop-wise addition of nitric acid in acetone over a period of 30 min with continuous mixing.
Carcinogenicity
3,3'-Dinitrobisphenol A is found to be genotoxic in male ICR mice on a micronucleus test. Its estrogenic potential is not known however shown some binding to estrogen-related receptor gamma to an extent.
