Career

Since 2002, she has been directing a solo music and sound design project under the name "diDiok" as composer, vocalist and producer. In 2012 she was appointed External Academic Examiner by Middlesex University for their accredited programmes at the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) for the cities of Barcelona, Madrid and Mexico City, and in 2013 she became Cultural Liaison at the IMMH. In 2014 Didi was appointed Community Catalyst and Experience Designer at Impact Hub Mexico City. This 2015 she relocated from the city to Tulum, to pursue her career in BioNatural Medicine and Metaphysics whilst performing her Sound Art project, living close to nature and translating academic material for UMS.

Artistic career

"Didi Tlajtoaki has been an active artist since 2007 and has presented her work within arts collectives and group exhibitions in London (DA! "Exhibition of Environments", a 24hour squat of the ex-Iraqi Embassy No:ID Gallery) and in Mexico City (Big Hands Gallery, Art @ 0 degrees, Corredor Cultural Condesa Roma, ContraNatura, Transplanta). Her specialty in psychoacoustics has allowed for an in depth exploration of sound within the work she presented from 2007-2010.

In 2009, she moves back to Mexico City to compile seven years worth of home-studio recordings and productions into her first professional album "(((eufonia)))" released independently. diDiok collaborated with Professor Cynthia Valenzuela, a four-time-first place award-winning Celtic harpist and Humberto Alvarez (sound therapist and specialist in pre-Hispanic instruments of Mexico) who laid down the rhythmic bed of the album. The album was produced by Didi Tlajtoaki and co-produced by Luis Diago (DiaGo/Nal, Normal&Moodo) and the former Head of Audio for The SAE Institute in Mexico, Santiago Rodriguez (FM, Blaq Records).

In 2010, together with Crystal Duarte they give birth to Big Hands Gallery, a pop up Gallery in Mexico City. One of the major projects they collaborate on entitled "Gnothi Seauton" involves a range of disciplines from smell installations to performance that strives for a transformational and positive effect on the audience. Didi directed a piece called "AguAsana", an interactive meditation, sound installation and kinetic performance to raise awareness and send healing vibrations to the petrol-contaminated Gulf of Mexico."

In 2013 she was invited by "La Sandia Digital" and "Equis" to compose a song and music video for a project funded by the British Embassy to bring awareness and end violence against women. The song "Cihuatl", co-produced by Josue Vergara, made its debut on the International Women's Day in Mexico City and in Amecameca in March 2014.

diDiok's "Earth Song" has appeared in the soundtrack for the Mexican independent film "Abolicion de la Propiedad" starring Aisslin Derbez (2013).

In May 2014 she was invited to participate in the 4th edition of the healing arts festival "Xicome". Her song "Soul" is featured in the album alongside artists like Memo Mendez-Guiu, Cynthia Valenzuela, Dora Kiczkovsky, Marissa de Lille, Michelle Button, Alex Slucki and Daniel Ruiz, amongst other talented artists. The track was co-produced by Grammy Award Winning Producer Ernesto Garcia. They are currently agreeing upon producing Didi's 2nd album. An organic blend of contemporary genres with prehispanic inspired sounds and Shamanic singing featuring artists like Trevor Gavilan (SemiSource), Cynthia Valenzuela, Josue Vergara (Los Jijos del Maiz), Epifania (Rap de Luz), Evan Fraser (Dirtwire), Austero, JM Salinas (Dapunto Beat), Paulina Sotomayor (Jefes del Desierto, Beat Buffet), Joa Santaur and Danny Pena (Jefes del Desierto) (amongst other talented musicians and producers).
