Biography

Diana Mera was born in Quito, Ecuador under the zodiac sign Libra; strong, independent, creative and talented. She’s Peruvian by nationality and heart since she was raised in Lima. She stopped living in the land of Chabuca Granda and finished the last two years of High School in Miami, Florida. At the age of 16 years and with the support of her grandmother Graciela, she attended college to study theater production in the prestigious program "Prometeo." Near the end of the program, her grandmother, the only family member who supported her through her childhood and her start in the music business, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, nevertheless; she got to see her granddaughter's achievements during the beginning of her career as a singer.

Mera’s early opportunities came from internationally renowned programs such as Despierta America on Univision and De Mañanita on Telemundo, which in turn led her to placing four music videos in popular programs such as VHUNO and MTV Español, among others. The power and originality of her voice distinguished her in the artistic scene as a unique exponent in Spanish Pop. Diana has received support from shows such as El Gordo y La Flaca, America Live, Univisión Radio, Caracol and Cadena Azul.

She is a singer, songwriter (BMI) and actress, and was part of the acclaimed play by Eve Ensler, “The Vagina Monologues”, for which she was nominated as best supporting actress. In 2009/2010, Mera went on a promotional tour in Peru, Mexico, and Ecuador to receive support from Elsa Maria Elejalde and Jara Communications (Peru), Cuadrante Radio (Mexico), and Ecuavisa (Ecuador).

Furthermore, in 2010, Mera acted and sang in the play called “Ojalá” (Spanish for “God Willing”) in the role of Cruz, interpreting a song of her own, “Sobreviviente” (Spanish for “Survivor”) from the album “Luz Verde” (Spanish for “Green Light”), which caused a great impact on the American press. Mera ended 2010 on a high note by starring in "Making Paradise: The West Hollywood Musical" and received very good reviews from publications such as the Los Angeles Times, StageSceneLA, Ambiente US, Never Blend In, UK and TheRevista Magazine.

Mera is currently promoting her album, “Luz Azul” (Universal Music/TMG/INgrooves)produced by Gustavo Borner and Danny Tomas.
