Early life

Devonte was born in Cincinnati Ohio, USA. By age 11 he mastered the art of home recording. From there he worked relentlessly to cultivate his sound as it’s known today. In his local community he jumped at any opportunity to sing in public. This led to him singing in church choirs, performing in festivals, and participating in youth arts program at Elementz: The Hip-Hop Youth Arts Center. While studying at Purcell Marian High School Devonte lived a double life as an athlete and scholar. Still unsatisfied with the slow progress of his music he took matters into his own hands an quite his athletic program to focus solely on music in his off hours. Devonte was later introduced to the director of Cincinnati’s Music Resource center by his mentor Akhe Adbullah who had also trained Devonte in the art of record production. By 2010 Devonte had achieved playing for crowds of 4 thousand plus, had his song Rewind air on commercial radio, and had shared the stage with major acts that passed through his city. As senior year of high school approached Devonte was at a crossroads. Pursue music or follow in the footsteps of his adopted parents and pursue medicine. He took a leap and started a general biology program at College of Mt. Saint Joseph via the SCOPE program. After three semesters of being dually enrolled in high school curriculum and college level courses he remained unsatisfied. Facing the reality that he only find happiness through pursuing his love for music he applied to America’s top music conservatories. After being accepted into the likes of Oberlin, Columbia, CCM, and many others he accepted his offer from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

Career

Devonte’s studies in Music Business and Creative Entrepreneurship have uniquely positioned him to be both a problem solver of some of the music industry’s toughest challenges and also as a content creator spanning a wide variety of disciplines such as live performance, record production, songwriting, and as a Go-To-Market Strategist for emerging and unsigned artists. Soul Kingz Records has announced the coming of Devonte’s debut mixtape scheduled for the end of 2015. To date, Devonte’s latest releases have gone on to chart in Europe and has been remixed by international DJ’s.
