The Department of National Development was an Australian government department that existed between December 1977 and December 1979. It was the second Australian Government Department to be named the Department of National Development.

    The Department was an Commonwealth Public Service department, staffed by officials who were responsible to the Minister for National Development, Kevin Newman. The Secretary of the Department was A.J. Woods.
