Background

Dele was born in Ebute Metta, Lagos. He was raised a Christian in a largely conservative Christian family. His parents are members of the The Apostolic Church although he was educated in a Catholic school, the popular Loyola College Ibadan, he excelled in several studies and was a member of the science club which won prizes in science, math and physics and classical studies. After completing secondary school, Dele came back to Lagos to further his studies. In 2007, he got admission into NIIT, a renowned global technical institution to study Software Engineering which took about 3 years. During his days at NIIT, he and his friends founded a tech company which also helped him further understand business in the real world.

Software developer

Dele started his tech career in 2006 shortly after leaving secondary school. He enrolled at the NIIT a year later, a global tech training company. During his diploma programme, he did a lot of training and side gigs whilst taking lectures. In 2009, Dele founded Pandorgs, a Christian social network site and invited some of his friends to help push the platform to its full potential. Findworka In 2016, many months after Bosstable had gone live, Dele Bakare launched Findworka, a tasks and services marketplace. Dele claims to have been inspired by “my difficulty in getting artisans after I moved into my neighbourhood”. According to him, “if the product you are building is not part of the real-world, then it’s a joke”. The name Findworka was a play on the product’s main purpose which is to help “find a worker”. Findworka’s earliest users were tech-savvy people living within the famed Sabo-Alagomeji axis of Yaba. This area is host also to so many popular tech startups including Budgit, Traclist, Hotels.ng, Prepclass. The environment also plays host to investors like leadpath and incubators like Co-Creation Hub.

Career

Pandorgs is a Christian networking website that was developed towards bridging the gap of knowledge about Christian beliefs and life. It is designed to bring all denominations in Christendom to the same tabloid, with keen attention to preaching the gospel with easy powerful tools allowing them to discover, connect and share with people and groups around their favourite activities and interests. The website was launched in 2009 and not much is known of the website lately.

Dele Bakare co-founded JobsinNigeria with long-time friend, Tayo Olufuwa, a certified ethical hacker in 2012. The company was incubated at Nigeria’s prestigious Co-creation Hub. At CCHub, they underwent the Growth academy programme where the duo was introduced to the late Kunle Olaifa. After the programme, they were awarded 5,000USD by the Tony Elumelu Foundation grant for start-ups. They also raised some monies with the help of their mentor, Kunle Olaifa. JobsInNigeria was a social recruitment resource for the unemployed and employed professionals in Nigeria. JIN was a web and mobile platform that allowed jobseekers to find jobs and connect with employers in real time. It was at some point, one of Nigeria’s leading job board with over 200,000 members in over 15 countries across Africa. The app crossed the 150,000 downloads mark, was a finalist for the Anzisha prize for Africa in 2013 and Leap Africa awards nominee as a social innovation product He would credit his ability to run Findworka partly to his JobsinNigeria experience. According to him, “long after my JIN days, I still felt that the service market was grossly underserved and that a local solution would be needed to solve the temporary jobs market’. Bosstable, according to the website, is described as HR software. Bosstable has a complete suite of HR applications covering all company needs, from recruitment to managing staff records and compensation, all seamlessly integrated”.

In 2014, he founded Bakaray Integrated Services Limited (BIS), a tech consulting company under whose stable he has launched Bosstable and Findworka.
