Deir Qeruh

Deir Qeruh, is a ruined Byzantine era village in the Golan Heights, Israel. The village was located near Gamla a much older fortified town, but Deir Qeruh itself was settled in the 4-5th Century AD and was given a church building in the 6th century. The village was, however, abandoned during Arab conquest of the 7th Century. Deir Qeruh was again inhabited during 13-14th Centuries and a Syrian village occupied the site in 20th Century although this was abandoned after six-day war (1967) when the town came under Israeli control.

Its name means monastery of Qeruh in Arabic.
