Education and Personal Life

Debra Wexler was born on September 10, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan. She received a degree in Slavic Linguistics from Michigan State University and is a graduate of Cornell University Falcon Japanese Language Program. She currently lives in Houston, Texas with her husband; they have six children and so far seven grandchildren.

Microcomputer Power

In 1982, Debra Wexler and her husband founded Microcomputer Power to provide personal computer systems and network integration services. Wexler started the company with $5,000 in 1982; in 1988, sales reached $31 million. The company had offices in Houston, Austin, Seattle, St. Louis, and Chantilly, VA. In 1989 Ernst & Young Magazine's "Entrepreneur of the Year" feature gave Wexler its Wholesale/Retail Award for the Houston and Gulf Coast Region. Wexler sold MicroComputer Power to Ameridata / GE Capital in 1995. As the Texas Regional Vice President she was instrumental in growing business from $70 million in 1995 to $120 million in 1997. She resigned from GE Capital Information Technology Solutions at the end of 1997 to spend more time with the family.
