David Stephenson is an English professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s, and 1990s, playing at representative level for Great Britain, and at club level for Salford (twice), Wigan, Leeds, and Leigh, a centre or wing three-quarter back.

Stephenson was born in Blackpool and was a pupil at Arnold School. He played rugby union for Fylde Rugby Club.
Wigan
Stephenson began his career with Salford, he left Salford for Wigan in 1982 for a club record fee of £60,000 (based on increases in average earnings, this would be approximately £264,400 in 2013), he won caps for Great Britain while at Wigan in 1982 against Australia (2 matches).
