David Scearce (born 1965) is a Canadian lawyer and screenwriter.

Law
Scearce earned a business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University before studying law at the University of British Columbia and then joining the Aboriginal Law unit of the Department of Justice's Vancouver office.
Film
In 2000, Scearce decided to write screenplays in his spare time. One of his first attempts was an adaptation of a favourite novel—A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood. Don Bachardy, Isherwood's surviving partner who managed the rights to the story, approved of the script and it was then picked up by fashion designer and first-time film director Tom Ford. The final film, A Single Man, starring Colin Firth and Julianne Moore, was released in December 2009. It received critical acclaim as well as numerous awards and nominations, including a Critics' Choice Movie Award nomination for Best Screenplay and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best First Screenplay.
In 2013, it was announced that Scearce wrote another screenplay, Measure of a Man, a coming-of-age story set in the 1970s and based on Robert Lipsyte's novel One Fat Summer. The film is to be directed by Terry Loane and star Christina Hendricks.
Personal life
Scearce was born in Burlington, Ontario and lives in Vancouver, where he continues to work for the Department of Justice.
