Noble was a premiership player at North Hobart in both 1987 and 1989, as vice captain. Fitzroy picked him up with the 111th pick of the 1989 VFL Draft and he was fortunate enough to make his league debut on his home ground, the North Hobart Oval. It was however a poor day to debut, as Hawthorn amassed 231 points, at the time the third highest in VFL/AFL history. Noble had 18 disposals and 12 the following round when he appeared in a more respectable loss to North Melbourne at the MCG.

In September 2016, Noble vacated his position as Adelaide Crows Head of Football to become the Brisbane Lions General Manager of Football. Previously, Noble was an assistant at the Western Bulldogs, for five years, before occupying the senior coaching position at Glenelg in 2003 and 2004.
