David Campbell (All Hands Volunteers founder) is a technology executive, corporate board member, and known most widely as Founder and Chairman of All Hands Volunteers international charitable organization. David has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of public companies Tektronix, M&T Bank, MRO Software, and Gibraltar Industries; as Trustee at both Niagara University and SUNY-Buffalo; as Chairman for civic organizations including Roswell Park Cancer Institute Council, the Buffalo United Way campaign, the Erie County IDA, and the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce; as well as serving on the board of directors for numerous other corporate and non-profit entities.

Recognitions include an honorary doctorate from Niagara University, citizen of the year from The Buffalo News, the Manhattan Institute 2013 Social Entrepreneur Award, and most recently won Encore.org’s 2014 Symetra Purpose Prize.

Career

David’s 40 year business background includes positions as President of BBN Technologies of Cambridge, and of GTE Labs in Waltham, as well as CEO responsibilities at public companies Computer Task Group of Buffalo and Xpedior of Chicago.

David Campbell, Chair and Co-founder - Formerly the CEO of Computer Task Group (CTG) and Xpedior, and President of BBN Technologies, Campbell came up with the idea of the business model surrounding All Hands while volunteering in Thailand in the aftermath of the 2004 Sumatran tsunami, using it to first launch Hands On Thailand and making it the structure for the evolution of the organization. Campbell served as the organization's executive director until 2013, when Erik Dyson was named as the new director.

He is the recipient of an honorary doctorate from Niagara University, Citizen of the Year from The Buffalo News, the 2013 Richard Cornuelle Award and the Encore.org 2014 Symetra Purpose Prize.

Honors and awards

Campbell earned a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of Buffalo in 1966 after receiving a Bachelor of Sciences in Mathematics from Niagara University in 1963.
