David Gannon is an Irish rugby union player.He is currently at his second spell with RaboDirect PRO12 side Connacht Rugby after a season with Southland Stags in the 2009 Air New Zealand Cup and Exeter Chiefs in the English Premiership .

Rugby History
Gannon, originally from Leinster, went to school in Blackrock College (class of 2001). His honours while at Blackrock include winning the Leinster Schools Junior Cup in 1998, Senior Seconds Cup in 1999, Leinster Senior Cup Finalists in 2001 (losing to Terenure College in Landsdowne Road on 25 March 2001).
In 2004, Gannon captained the Ireland Under 21 in the Under 21 Rugby World Championship side while playing for UCD. The side made the final before losing to the New Zealand team 47-19. In 2005, he signed to play for Connacht in the Celtic League where he would play until his services were no longer required in late 2008. He went six months without a club before signing with Air New Zealand Cup side Southland. The team won New Zealand's most prestigious rugby trophy the Ranfurly Shield for the team's first time in 50 years. After a successful season in December 2009, he joined Exeter Chiefs in the RFU Championship.
Gannon rejoined Connacht in 2011, signing a two-year deal with the Irish province. In 2013, the Dublin-born lock left Connacht and announced his retirement from professional rugby.
