David "Dave" 'Chissy' Chisnall ((1948-04-10)10 April 1948 – (2013-01-11)11 January 2013) was an English professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s, and 1980s, playing at representative level for Great Britain, and England, and at club level for Leigh (twice), Warrington (twice) (Captain), Swinton, St. Helens, and Barrow, as a prop, i.e. number 8 or 10, during the era of contested scrums.

Early life

Chisnall was born in St. Helens, Lancashire, and was the brother of the rugby league footballer, Eric Chisnall.

International honours

Dave Chisnall won caps for England while at Warrington in 1975 against Wales (sub), in the 1975 Rugby League World Cup against France, Wales, and New Zealand, in 1975 against Papua New Guinea (non-test), and won caps for Great Britain while at Leigh in 1970 against Australia, and in the 1970 Rugby League World Cup against New Zealand.

Dave Chisnall played left-prop, i.e. number 8, in Warrington's 24-9 victory over Featherstone Rovers in the 1974 Challenge Cup Final during the 1973–74 season at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 11 May 1974, in front of a crowd of 77,400, and played left-prop, and was Captain in the 7-14 defeat by Widnes in the 1975 Challenge Cup Final during the 1974–75 season at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 10 May 1975, in front of a crowd of 85,998.

Dave Chisnall played left-prop, i.e. number 8, in Leigh's 2-11 defeat by Swinton in the 1969 Lancashire County Cup Final during the 1969–70 season at Central Park, Wigan on Saturday 1 November 1969, played left-prop in the 7-4 victory over St. Helens in the 1970 Lancashire County Cup Final during the 1970–71 season at Station Road, Swinton on Saturday 28 November 1970, and played as an interchange/substitute, i.e. number 15, (replacing Prop Tony Cooke) in Warrington's 16-0 victory over St. Helens in the 1982 Lancashire County Cup Final during the 1982–83 season at Central Park, Wigan on Saturday 23 October 1982.
