David Astbury (born 26 February 1991) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He plays primarily as a key position defender.

Early life and junior football

Originally from Tatyoon in western Victoria, Astbury played his junior footy at the Ararat Western Warriors and Tatyoon U16. He later played for the North Ballarat Rebels in the TAC Cup.

He attended Caulfield Grammar School as a boarding student for two years.
AFL career

Astbury was drafted to with the 35th selection in the 2009 AFL Draft.
He made his AFL debut in Round 4, 2010 against Melbourne. He had seven disposals (six kicks and one handball), took three marks, had one tackle and kicked three goals. He was one of the better players for the Tigers who lost by 55 points.
At the conclusion of eight rounds of the 2014 season, Astbury was leading the club's best and fairest count.
After 11 rounds of the 2017 season Astbury ranked sixth in the competition for intercept marks.
At the end 2017 home and away season Astbury ranked eighth in the league for total tackles recorded that season with 150 across his 22 matches. He also ranked equal 19th with his 106 one percenters.
