Profiles

Davao Doctors College (DDC) is a private and nonsectarian academic institution in Davao City in the island of Mindanao, Philippines . It was established in 1975 by Cristina Rivero Casiño, who also became its first director, and was first known as Davao Doctors Hospital School of Nursing (DDHSN). Back then, a three-year basic course in Nursing was the only course offered. It was incorporated by a group of medical doctors in response to the urgent demand for nurses in Davao Doctors Hospital, of which the college is a subsidiary company. Mrs. Casiño, who had a master's degree in nursing from Columbia University, with the help and support of the hospital board, slowly expanded from initially a one-classroom school to a well-known school in the city. After expanding its curriculum, it officially became Davao Doctors College in 1981.
