Career and Philanthropy

Since 2007 he has taken a more public role, first appearing at a land auction with his father in October that year, and in recent years he takes up increasing public services. He advocates sustainability and heritage, championing green innovations like city air purification system, in-building hydro power system, food waste management, Tai O Heritage Hotel in Hong Kong and The Fullerton Heritage in Singapore. Other sustainability programmes include Sino Junior Reporter Programme in collaboration with South China Morning Post and Go Code project to give children from underprivileged families exposure to coding and app writing. Both programmes provide the younger generation with training in essential skills like English writing and coding. Innovation such as the city air purification system has gained traction in Hong Kong and Beijing, including receiving the second prize of the Local Industry Practitioners category of the CIC Innovation Awards 2015.

He advocates volunteering services, and has often been seen participating in events organised by his company or meaningful causes he supports. Daryl Ng sits on the judging panel of the SCMP Spirit of Hong Kong Awards, an award that pays tribute to the unsung heroes of Hong Kong. In recognition of his commitment to heritage conservation and sustainable development, the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Hong Kong conferred on him an honorary doctorate degree in 2015, the Open University of Hong Kong conferred on him an Honorary Fellowship in 2016. He was also appointed a member of the Council of the University of Hong Kong in 2015 and a member of the Board of the M Plus Museum in 2016.

In Singapore, the former Fullerton Building, housing The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, was gazetted as Singapore's 71st National Monument in December 2015, signifying the highest form of national recognition. The Singapore National Heritage Board appointed Daryl Ng a board member in August 2017.

Innovation and technological development is another area of his support. Sino Group sponsors the venue for the second Co-working Space (X-Lab) of the Hong Kong X-Tech Startup Platform at Ocean Building. Daryl Ng is supportive of the initiative, which he opines conducive to accelerating technological innovation, contributing to a more dynamic Hong Kong.

In addition to Sino Group, Daryl Ng serves on the board of a number of organisations, including Blue Cross (Asia-Pacific) Insurance of Hong Kong and The Bank of East Asia Limited. He is taking up increasing public services, including serving on the General Committee of the Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies, the International Advisory Council of Columbia University, the Tenth Sichuan Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Twelfth Beijing Committee of CPPCC, the tenth and eleventh Committees of the All-China Youth Federation, the Chongqing Youth Federation, The Community Chest of Hong Kong and the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong.
