Danielle Anne Trussoni is an American writer. Her work includes four books: Falling Through the Earth (2006); Angelology (2010), Angelopolis (2012) and memoir The Fortress (2016). In addition to being published in The New York Times Book Review, The Guardian, The New York Times Magazine and Tin House, her writings have been widely anthologized.

Background
Trussoni was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison summa cum laude with a BA in History and English in 1996 and from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where she received an MFA in Fiction Writing in 2002. She has lived for extended periods in Japan, Bulgaria, England and France.
Trussoni currently lives in New York City. She lived in France from 2009-2012 and her forthcoming memoir, The Fortress, focuses on this period in her life. She was married to the writer Nikolai Grozni in 2002. The couple was featured in Season 2 of This American Life (TV). They divorced in 2012. She has two children.

Falling Through the Earth: A Memoir, which dealt with her efforts to understand her father and his experiences as a tunnel rat in the War in Vietnam, was chosen by The New York Times as one of the Ten Best Books of 2006.Falling Through the Earth was recipient of the Michener-Copernicus Society of America Award, Elle Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Award for April 2006 and was chosen as a Book Sense Pick for March 2006.
Her novel Angelology, (Viking Press, 2010) received a great deal of attention prior to publication. Seven publishing houses vied for the publishing rights. Angelology went on to become a New York Times Bestseller and has been translated into thirty-two languages. Three motion picture companies, Columbia, Universal, and Sony bid for the film rights, which went to Sony.
Trussoni's memoir, The Fortress, which tells the story of her marriage, and her move to the south of France with her husband, was published on September 20th 2016 by Dey Street/HarperCollins.

Trussoni’s essays, book reviews and other pieces of nonfiction have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Telegraph Magazine, The New York Times Book Review, Tin House, People Magazine, among other publications. Her essays have been anthologized in books, such as Believer, Beware First-person Dispatches from the Margins of Faith, Bound to Last, and The Time of My Life, as well as the online publications The New York Times Magazine, Tin House, and Sunday Herald Magazine.

Falling Through the Earth: A Memoir, Trussoni’s first book, is a memoir that grappled with her efforts to understand her father and his experiences as a tunnel rat in the War in Vietnam. It was chosen by The New York Times as one of the Ten Best Books of 2006.

Angelology Series
Trussoni’s first novel, Angelology, (Viking Press, 2010) was a literary historical thriller described as “a brilliant tapestry of myth and biblical lore on our present-day world and plunged two star-crossed heroes into an ancient battle against mankind’s greatest enemy: the fatally attractive angel-human hybrids known as the Nephilim.”
Angelology received a great deal of attention prior to publication. Seven publishing houses vied for the publishing rights, resulting in a bidding war. Angelology went on to become a New York Times Bestseller and has been translated into over thirty languages. Three motion picture companies, Columbia, Universal, and Sony, bid for the film rights, which ultimately went to Sony.
The Fortress, Trussoni's second memoir, tells the story of her 2009 move to a medieval fortress in the village of Aubais in the Languedoc region of the south of France with her husband. It has received a number of pre-publication endorsements, most notably from Cheryl Strayed, who wrote: “The Fortress is a bold book about the most intimate things. Trussoni’s clear-eyed examination is both a page-turner and a profound meditation…”
The Fortress (Dey Street/HarperCollins, 2016) garnered immediate acclaim. Entertainment Weekly chose it as a must read book of Fall 2016. Elle Magazine picked it as one of the best books of September 2016 and it was People Magazine Weekly Must Read Pick.
Well known actor and writer Mary-Louise Parker conducted an interview about The Fortress for Amazon.com. In addition, the cult actress Molly Ringwald conducted a sold out conversation with Trussoni at Strand Bookstore in Manhattan that was live streamed.
The memoir was widely excerpted, notably on the literary sites LitHub and The Rumpus.
