Biography

Daniel Soloducho Sprinberg was born on 12 April 1954. In 1978 he was awarded the degrees of Certified Public Accountant and the Bachelor of Business Administration from the Universidad de la República Oriental del Uruguay.

He started his business activity in 1973 as Owner and Director of Typerary S.A., a company dedicated to the manufacturing of hairpins. A few years later, between 1979 and 1986, he held the position of General Manager in the textile manufacturing company Paylana S.A. In relation to this field, he held the position of Commercial Manager in “Manos del Uruguay” (1986-1987), a social non-profit organization, member of the World Fair Trade Organization – WFTO, which offers jobs to craftswomen in the country’s rural areas, to manufacture wool knitwear.

Between the years 1987 and 2006 he was the Founder, Director, and General Manager of the textile manufacturing company Dancotex S.A., a “Project declared of National Interest” by the Uruguayan Government.

Dancotex was considered one of the main textile companies in Uruguay, and its success was due mainly to its firm commitment to innovation in processes and products, having managed to successfully bring over to the global market and to highly-demanding international buyers, a Uruguayan fabric which has been internationally recognized for being unique of its kind and featuring unique characteristics.

Faced with an unfavorable exchange rate policy, the company had to generate a competitive horizon through the merger of its two plants into the one with the higher availability for both the physical and services unification, offering jobs in the merged plant and wages in accordance with the law in force.

Due to the occupation of the plant, which lasted more than one year and made it impossible the unification of the teams, the undertaking became practically unfeasible, and the company filed for judicial liquidation.

The differences and conflicting positions culminated in a judgment in favor of the company.

From 2008 to 2013 he held the position of Vice President of Operations, and is at present the Director of the company Starkist Food d´Or Ltd., rated by D&B as one of the 100 largest Israeli companies. He dealt there with planning, organization and operations control tasks.

During the years 2012 and 2013 he was one of the Founders, Director and General Manager of Top Chef Ltd., a manufacturing company of packaged frozen products of Kibbutz Eilon.

From 2009 to the present he is the manager and owner of the company Best K, with headquarters in Israel. Best K deals mainly with advisory services, investments, and import of food products for the domestic market.

In other areas, he has performed numerous functions. He was a member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel and President of the Social Help Fund of the Israeli Community in Uruguay. He was the President of Taglit – Birthright Uruguay and the Representative of Taglit-Birthright for Latin America; this is an organization that allows Jewish young adults worldwide to travel for 10 days to Israel to connect to their roots, and to the Jewish history and culture. He was also the President of the “Forum of the Eleven”, a coordinating organization of the Jewish-Uruguayan community in the country. Likewise, he was the President of Keren Hayesod Uruguay, a non-profit organization dedicated to maintain the connection of worldwide Jewish communities with their origins. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the World Jewish Agency.

On three occasions he served as President of the Union of Exporters of Uruguay, an organization that represents the interests of the exporting sector before the government.

He was also the Secretary and later on the President of the fiscal commission of the Club Atlético Peñarol, a Uruguayan football team.
