Dr. Daniel Fritzsche is a fictional character on the German soap opera Verbotene Liebe (Forbidden Love). The character was played by Markus Prinz from April 8, 1999 to June 12, 2002 and returned for one guest appearance for the show's 10th anniversary on January 27, 2005. The role was recast with actor Dirk Moritz, who debuted on November 2, 2011.
Daniel is introduced as Tilmann's nephew and eventually starts to fall for Gabriella Santos. The couple forms a healthy and happy relationship, when Daniel's ex-girlfriend Natascha Seeger hits town and tells Gabriella that Daniel has a daughter, Vivian. Gabriella can't forgive Daniel and breaks up with him, leaving Daniel heartbroken. While Natascha is trying to get Daniel back, he only wants Gabriella back. As she is raped by Roland Hansen, Daniel helps Gabriella in her time of need. But Gabriella doesn't want to get back together with Daniel. As she asks him to stay away from her, Daniel decides to leave town and start a new life in France.
Eventually Gabriella learns to deal with what happened to her and starts to miss Daniel. She follows him and the two reunite. In 2005, Gabriella and Daniel are seen together, happy to learn that they are going to be parents.
Daniel surprisingly returns in 2011, when his father Dietmar died and he wants to look after his brother Andi. It's revealed that Gabriella miscarried and that it in the process destroyed their relationship. Daniel started to study medicine and as he decides to stay in town begins his residency at St. Vinzenz Hospital. While working there he meets Helena von Lahnstein, not knowing that she's the ex-girlfriend of his brother. He starts to fall for her and the two eventually end up together. But then Daniel becomes friends with Helena's rival Jessica Stiehl, who destroyed her relationship with Andi by sleeping with him. After a while, Daniel and Jessica become closer as he learns that she suffers from dyslexia. He promises her to keep it to himself as Jessica starts to fall for him.
Daniel later falls in love with Jessica and breaks up with Helena but when Jessica has a one night stand hith Hagen von Lahnstein and ends up pregnant with his children, Daniel breaks up with her and leaves town shortly after. It's been hinted that he reunited with Helena in Cambodia.
