Dale Alan Dauten (born September 30, 1950) is an American business management columnist, author, professional speaker, management coach and mediator.

Professional background

Dauten earned a Bachelor's degree in economics and a Master's degree in economics from Arizona State University in 1971 and 1972, respectively. At Stanford's graduate school of business, he did doctoral work in organizational behavior and completed training at the Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University.

Later he joined the Arizona Attorney General's mediation program as a volunteer to resolve cases for the Justice Courts and the office of the Registrar of Contractors.

Columns and syndication

Dauten is a syndicated columnist through King Features Syndicate. He is 'The Corporate Curmudgeon' (appearing in 30 newspapers) providing business and management insight, and also writes with J.T. O’Donnell as 'JT and Dale Talk About Jobs' providing information and advice to job seekers, employees and employers. He has been writing newspaper columns and articles since 1991.

Business and consulting

Dale has applied his knowledge working for several companies including several that he created.

Dale worked for Americo and Dial Corp as market research manager for 4 years.

Research Resources, founded by Dale in 1980, is a nationally known marketing research consulting company. Dale sold his company in 1988 to pursue writing, independent consulting and other business ventures.

Dale has provided management and creativity training and coaching to companies and has worked with 3M, AT&T, Caterpillar, General Dynamics, Kodak, NASA, Procter and Gamble and others.

In 2009, Dale, along with Arizona attorneys John Zarzynski and Georgia Wilder, and Frank Gaunt founded Agreement House, a company providing divorce and business conflict resolution services using mediation to solve complex interpersonal and legal issues.
