Alexander Mamonov was born in 1990 into a military family, and grew up in Moscow, Russia. During the majority of his youth, Mamonov was heavily involved in his school’s volleyball team, where he excelled in the sport to eventually qualify for a position on Russia’s Youth Olympic team.

His stint in volleyball ended after he decided to pursue his passion in music. A self-professed hip-hop and classic rock enthusiast, Mamonov's exploration of the Moscow club scene ignited his passion for electronic music after witnessing a DJ performance in a local club when he was 16. Inspired, he quickly immersed himself into the city’s electronic dance scene, using a steadily growing network of contacts to book gigs in Moscow’s local clubs where he had the chance to hone his skills before graduating to more high profile venues and eventually launching a professional career in the genre.

Career

Fenix began his career in 2004 playing in the Moscow club scene, where he sharpened his skills as a DJ before leveraging his talents to solidify a collaboration with renowned UK dance duo, Supafly, which led to recording and subsequently releasing his first international single, “I Believe” in 2007. The video quickly broke into mainstream chart success and radio rotation in the U.S., Australia, Germany and the UK. “I Believe” helped cement Fenix’s ascent as a rising star in Russia’s EDM scene, opening the door to performance bookings in some of Europe’s most renowned venues and events. Fenix’s steadily growing profile and body of work earned him a “Best DJ” accolade from the Music Entertainment Awards in 2012. That same year, Cosmopolitan (Russia) lauded Fenix as the “Russia's Most Eligible Bachelor.” Fenix resumed a heavy touring schedule for the next few years to continue building his profile in the international EDM scene throughout Europe. Every performance was an opportunity to build increased momentum and awareness, resulting in the artist sharing the stage with industry elites such as, David Guetta, Bob Sinclar and many more.

In November 2014, Fenix was given the honor of being the first EDM artist to ever play a live performance in the Kremlin, Russia’s main house of government, as the opening act to the 2014 Musicbox Awards. Aside from the unprecedented and historic opportunity to perform for attendees that evening, Fenix walked away with another “Best DJ” award recognizing his success in the genre through the years. Fenix made his official debut in the U.S. leading up to the release of his first stateside single, “Cosmo Zoo.” Prior to the record’s launch, the artist built heavy buzz around the track through a performance tour in NYC throughout January 2015. “Cosmo Zoo” officially dropped on February 16, 2015 topping at #11 on the Beatport Progressive House charts. Fenix followed the single up with the release of “Eternity” in April 2015 and “The Voice of the Earth” in August 2015.

In April, 2016, Fenix released “Satellite” featuring RCA recording artist, Frankie worldwide. The track, which was Fenix's second single release on Carrillo Music, was instantly propelled into heavy rotation on Y100 Miami, the city’s #1 Top 40 FM station. The artist capitalized on the momentum from his latest official single with an unofficial remix of Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” which ended up trending at #1 on New York's top dance music station, 103.5 KTU, for three weeks in a row via Sean "Hollywood" Hamilton's Remix Top 30 countdown.

Fenix kicked off March, 2017 with the release of his latest single, "All Around the World" ft. Chris Casino on Spotify, iTunes and Beatport. That same month, Fenix garnered recognition at the 2nd annual 2017 Remix Awards taking place as part of 2017 Miami Music Week, and produced by iHeartRadio's Remix Top 30, Digital Music Pool, and hosted by "Hollywood" Hamilton. During the ceremony, which took place at the iHeartRadio Music Lounge in South Beach's W Hotel & Residences, he received nominations for “Remix of the Year” as well as “Best Bootleg” for his “Can’t Stop the Feeling” remix – taking home an award for the latter category.

Personal life

Fenix has specifically cited his desire to help up-and-coming DJs, going so far as to develop his own app in 2007 titled “You Can be a DJ,” providing an entry point for music fans and fledgling artists to explore the art of DJing.

Fenix described his conscientious attention to his health, by “not taking any drugs, eating healthy and not drinking much alcohol." The artist also regularly roots for his favorite basketball team, the Brooklyn Nets during the NBA season and takes any opportunity available to watch them play live or on television.
