Lt. Colonel D. Sreeram Kumar AC (born 1981) is an Indian Army officer. Commissioned into the army on 20 March 2004, he received the Ashok Chakra Award, India's highest peacetime decoration, and currently he is an Instructor at the Indian Military Academy (IMA).

Childhood
Sreeram Kumar was born in 1981 in Kovilpatti and did his schooling in Sainik School, Amaravathi nagar, Udumalpet and passed out in 1998. He did his under graduation at The American College in Madurai.
Army career
Kumar joined the Officers Training Academy, Chennai in October 2002 and was commissioned into 90 Medium Regiment (Artillery) on March 20, 2004 and was promoted to the rank of major on August 24, 2008. He served with 39 Assam Rifle in Arunachal Pradesh(Operation Orchid) and later in Manipur(Operation Hifazat).
Kumar has been credited with killing 12 terrorists, apprehending 23 terrorists and recovering weapons for which he was awarded the Ashok Chakra Award, India's highest peace time decoration.
