Stereolab cybele s reverie

Cybele's Reverie is a 1996 EP by the experimental rock group Stereolab which served as the lead single from their album Emperor Tomato Ketchup released the same year. All four of its tracks were later re-released on the Oscillons from the Anti-Sun compilation.

Contents

It is the only Stereolab EP on which none of the songs are in English: "Cybele's Reverie", "Brigitte" and "Young Lungs" are in French, and "Les Yper-Yper Sound" is an instrumental.

"Cybele's Reverie" itself is an early fade of the album version; "Les Yper-Yper Sound" is a radically different arrangement of the album track "Les Yper-Sound". "Brigitte" pays tribute to Brigitte Fontaine, with whom the group would later collaborate on the single "Caliméro".

"Cybele's Reverie" was voted number 11, and "Les Yper-Yper Sound" number 50, on John Peel's Festive Fifty for 1996.
