According to an interview with Complex, Crystal Caines began her production career with the encouragement of herself and rapper A$AP Ferg. Caines went on to produce the song featured in the rapper's first music video, "A Hundred Million Roses", and recorded the vocals for A$AP Ferg's future singles, "Work" and "Shabba", in her home studio.

In 2013, Caines produced the Bone Thugs-n-Harmony-featuring "Lord" on A$AP Ferg's debut album, Trap Lord. In 2014, she released her debut single, "Whiteline", featuring A$AP Ferg. Later that year, the two collaborated again on the rapper's mixtape, Ferg Forever, with Caines appearing as a featured guest and producing on several of the tracks, including "Reloaded (Let it Go pt. 2)", which features MIA.
