The name Croceibacter derives from:
Latin adjective croceus, saffron-colored; New Latin masculine gender noun, a rodbacter, nominally meaning "a rod", but in effect meaning a bacterium, rod; New Latin masculine gender noun Croceibacter, saffron-colored rod.
