Crime & Punishment Brewing Co. is a brewpub in the Brewerytown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. The brewery has a 7-barrel capacity and the bar seats around 40 people.

Contents

Travel + Leisure called the brewery one of "the city’s newest beer stars" in their round up of America's Best Beer Cities. Uwishunu identified Crime & Punishment as "first modern brewery in Brewerytown."

History

Before Prohibition was enacted in 1920, over 20 breweries operated in Brewerytown. After the 1933 Repeal, none of them reopened.

The rise of craft beer brought back some brewing to the area - Red Bell Brewing operated on the former Poth Brewing site from 1996 to 2002. For 13 years before the launch of Crime & Punishment, there was no commercial brewing in Brewerytown.

In 2013 Mike Wambolt began developing the Girard Avenue location, which had previously been a bike shop. There followed a period of fundraising events, including a campaign on crowdfunding website Indiegogo.

The brewpub opened on July 11, 2015.
