The Crazy Nights World Tour was a concert tour by American hard rock band Kiss. It began in Jackson, Mississippi, marking the second time that a major recording act had started a tour in that city (Maze being the first). The night before the Jackson show, bassist Gene Simmons played DJ on local rock-and-roll station Z106. White Lion opened during the early dates of the tour. It was the first time Kiss toured Japan since the Alive II Tour in 1978. The tour marked Eric Carr's first and only trip to Japan. Kiss also co-headlined the Monsters of Rock festival with Iron Maiden. The Canadian band Helix opened for them in Detroit, as Ted Nugent had played his annual "New Year's Eve Whiplash Bash", headlining at Cobo. The thrash metal group Anthrax opened for Kiss at the Thomas & Mack show in Las Vegas and at the Pacific Amphitheatre show in Costa Mesa. The show was notable in that it didn't feature much of the pyrotechnics or other stage effects the band is known for, the exception being Gene Simmons fire breathing.
