Coronation Island is located off the Kimberley coast of Western Australia.

Located off Port Nelson in the Bonaparte Archipelago as a part of the group of islands known as the Coronation islands. These were named by Philip Parker King, the first European the visit the islands in 1820, after the anniversary of the late King's coronation.
The island encompasses an area of 3,817 hectares (9,432 acres).
The traditional owners of the area are the Uunguu peoples of the Wunambal language group whose name for the island is Garlinju.
Careening Bay on the island is the location where King careened his cutter, the Mermaid to make repairs. While on the island the crew engraved the name of the ship on a Boab tree that is still visible today.
