Corner Bakery Cafe is owned by CBC Restaurant Corporation, an affiliate of Il Fornaio (America) Corporation based in Dallas, Texas. It was sold to Il Fornaio in 2005 by Brinker International and founded by Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, a Chicago theme restaurant operator.

Roark Capital Group bought Il Fornaio in 2011.

Corner Bakery's CEO is Frank Paci. Paci joined Corner Bakery Cafe in October 2015. Paci has over 25 years of experience leading retail and foodservice brands. He most recently served as President and CEO at Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc. He has been president and CEO of McAlister’s Deli, a 300-plus unit fast casual brand, and was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at the Pantry, Inc., a publicly traded convenience store chain with over 1,500 locations. Mike Hislop is the Chairman of the Board. Mike came on as COO after the sale to CBC Restaurant Corporation. Gary Price, the previous president, joined the company in 2012. Jim Vinz, the previous president & COO, had been with the company in various capacities since 1995 and was promoted to COO in 2005 and president in 2006.

Locations

The cafe has 192 locations nationwide, including in Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Denver, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Tucson, El Paso, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Tampa Bay and Buffalo metropolitan areas, as well as in Northern California, Mississippi, New Jersey, Virginia, Savannah, East Texas, and the Rio Grande Valley areas.

In 2016, it was announced that Corner Bakery Café signed a contract with Walmart to have in-store cafe's in their stores. At the time, Walmart also signed contracts with Au Bon Pain, Peet's Coffee and Tea, and Einstein Bros. Bagels to convert all in-store restaurants to those outlets by January 2018.
