Coraline
Coraline is a musical written by Stephin Merritt and David Greenspan and is based on the novella Coraline by Neil Gaiman. It follows a young girl who is bored in her new house, and finds a new universe.

Original production

The show marked the first time a musical has been performed at MCC Theater. The show had its previews at Lucille Lortel Theatre. It opened on June 1, 2009 and was scheduled to run till June 20, but due to popularity, it was extended to July 5.
Cast and crew

The show was directed by Leigh Silverman, set design by Christine Jones, costume design by Anita Yavich, lighting design by Ben Stanton, choreography Denis Jones, musical director Kimberly Grigsby, pianist Phyllis Chen, dialect coach Deborah Hecht, production manager B.D. White and Adam Shive, stage manager David H. Lurie, general manager Ted Rounsaville.

The show starred Julian Fleisher (Cat, Others), David Greenspan (Other Mother), Jayne Houdyshell (Coraline), Francis Jue (Father, Miss Forcible, Winged Girl, Other Miss Forcible, Others), January LaVoy (Mother, Miss Spink, Other Miss Spink, Others), Elliot Villar (Mr. Bobo, Other Mr. Bobo, Tall Girl, Others), and William Youmans (Other Father, Usher Dog, Little Boy, Policeman, Others).

The West Coast premiere of Coraline played from November 16, 2010 – January 15, 2011 in San Francisco, produced by The SF Playhouse.
The Canadian premiere of Coraline played from August 15–25, 2013 at the Edmonton Fringe, produced by Impossible Mongoose Productions.

The Midwest premiere of Coraline played from August 8 to September 6, 2014 in Chicago, produced by Black Button Eyes Productions.
