The term Commacide is used in reference to the popular misuse, and lack of use, of the Oxford or serial comma. The debate surrounding the use and misuse of the serial comma is most likely grammatically timeless, but the main fight in favor of the use of the serial comma has come to a head recently in the Tech Generation because of social networking services and the popularity of Internet memes.

Causes of Commacide

Commacide can be caused by a writer's lack of grammatical training or the chosen grammar pedagogy used in the writer's educational history. Further information of the misuse or use of this comma and the argument surrounding this crime can be found in the Arguments section of the Serial Comma article.
