Cologne P.D. (SOKO Köln) is a German crime fiction series which is broadcast on ZDF. The show was first broadcast on 22 October 2003. It is a spinoff of the long-running series SOKO 5113.

Cast changes
The fifth series saw a number of changes to the cast. Three characters were cut but Frank Hansen, Vanessa Haas, Dr. Philip Kraft and Ben Schneider remained. Three new characters were also introduced: Karin Reuter (Kriminalhauptkommissarin), Daniel Winter (Kriminalkommissar) und Julia Marschall (Kriminalkommissarin). Frank Hansen is also promoted from Kriminaloberkommissar to Kriminalhauptkommissar although this promotion is not mentioned in the series. The 8th series saw a further cast change. In the first episode of this series, the character of Matti Wagner is introduced, Matti is the maternity cover for Kriminalkommissarin Marschall. In the same episode, disaster strikes when Kriminalhauptkommissar Hansen is injured whilst chasing a suspect and dies shortly after. In the middle of the 8th series Daniel Winter asks to be transferred to Hamburg for personal reasons. His post is filled by Kriminalkommissar Jonas Fischer. Ben Schneider is also hardly mentioned in this series and by the end of the series has exited the show.
At the beginning of the 9th series, Staatsanwalt Dr. Alexander Kern joins the teams and begins a relationship with Karin Reuter. Julia Marschall left the show at the end of the 9th series and is replaced by Sophia Mückeberg in the 10th series.
Crossover
On 3 April 2013, the various SOKO teams were brought together for a five-part special. The teams from the SOKOs 5113, Köln, Leipzig, Stuttgart and Wismar have to solve a murder case in which a policeman has been killed. In doing so, they are pulled into a criminal underworld in which self law and governance are the norm. The five episodes were shown across Germany from 30 September to 4 October 2013 from Monday to Friday at 18.00. Many famous actors took part in the show.
