Collegium Musicum Den Haag is a baroque orchestra composed of musicians who trained at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in The Netherlands. The orchestra was founded in 2006 by Brazilian/Italian harpsichordist Claudio Ribeiro.

Contents

The orchestra is modeled after the collegium musicum of the Baroque era, an organized association of musicians that held regular meetings for the performance of music. Many of these organizations were established by university students (such as Georg Philipp Telemann, Johann Kuhnau, Johann Friedrich Fasch) who were keen to present their musical ideas to the public. These collegia musica were not directly associated with the universities themselves. Similarly, although COLLEGIUM MUSICUM Den Haag is not formally linked to the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, nearly all of its members are graduates from this conservatory.

The orchestra has performed in various festivals and concert series such as the Anton Philipszaal in The Hague, the 2006 Utrecht Early Music Festival, the Brunnenthaler Konzertsommer (Austria) and Festival Italia Mia (Vienna, Austria). In 2007, it released its first recording "L'Europe Réunie" on the label ORF Edition Alte Musik. A second recording "Mr. Handel's Delight" will be released on the same label in Fall 2008.
