Colchester (borough) has lots of settlements scattered around it. Excluding Colchester Town centre, here is a list of the main settlements in the borough.

Contents

Southern settlements

The southern settlements include Tiptree and Mersea island. Tiptree is home to the most popular jams and marmalade in Great Britain. West Mersea is also a hotspot for seafood and crabbing.

Western settlements

The western settlements include Copford, Marks Tey and Easthorpe. Copford is a large village with varieties of places to eat. Marks Tey is also a large village. It is home to Poplar gardens, a massive garden store. Easthorpe is a village just off the A12 and is mainly home for farming.

Northern settlements

The northern settlements include Great Horkesley and West Bergholt. Both of these villages have access of road to Sudbury.

Eastern settlements

The eastern settlements include Greenstead and other scattered villages. The eastern part of Colchester also includes the Hythe. After Wivenhoe, the region turns into Tendring. Tendring is mostly farming and villages, although it is home for Clacton and Frinton. Greenstead is a large estate near Highwoods. Greenstead is very convenient.
