Playing career

Wydo played collegiate hockey for the Robert Morris Colonials in Atlantic Hockey of NCAA Men's Division I. Wydo's outstanding play was rewarded with a selection to the 2013–14 All-AHA First Team. During the 2014–15, Wydo was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, becoming the first Hobey Baker finalist in Robert Morris history.

On March 26, 2015, Wydo signed to make his professional debut with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. After impressing in the 2016–17 season, leading the Nailers in scoring with 30 goals and 60 points, Wydo signed a professional try-out contract with AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, on April 8, 2017, and appeared in 3 games to complete the year.
