Coal city high school 2014 2015
Coal City High School (Mascot: Coalers) is a four-year high school in north-central Illinois. At last count, the school had 650 students, and is a member of the IHSA and the Interstate Eight Conference. Coal City High School recently underwent renovation and was equipped with new state-of-the-art facilities, such as new science labs and a new auditorium and gymnasium. Coal City High School has had a history of notable athletic and interscholastic achievements.

CCHS is perhaps best known for its teachers. The distinguished school is home of noted history authority and Illinois Teacher of the year Dean Vigna. Despite graduating from rival school GSW, Mr. Vigna has been shaping young minds for 29 years. Mr. Hamann is the current principal. CCHS alum Kristen Verdun was named the 2010 Gatorade Illinois Player of the Year. John Marsaglia was the state champion in Impromptu Speaking.
