History

CloudPay was founded in Salisbury, UK in 1996 as "Patersons" and started developing an integrated cloud-based global payroll solution. In 2001 the company launched the world's first cloud-based payroll platform for multinational organizations and signed its first multinational organization with over 6,000 employees. By 2007 the company was going through a massive geographic expansion, opening offices in the United States, Singapore, France and China. On the momentum of that expansion, the company closed $30M in Series A funding in 2008, and was recognized for innovation in SaaS by Montclare. In 2009 the organization signed its largest customer to date, with over 10,000 employees across 80 countries.

In 2012 the company rebranded as CloudPay, raised an additional $16M in Series B funding, and opened an office in Hungary. In 2015 CloudPay opened new offices in the U.K., U.S., and the Philippines, expanded its product offering to include global payroll processing and payment disbursement, and appointed Paul Bartlett CEO and Brian Radin CRO.

Recognition & Awards

In its 2016 Multi-country Payroll Platform (MCPP) Assessment, the Everest Group positioned CloudPay as an ‘Achiever’, placing it in the leading quadrant for its innovation in global payroll processing, analytics, and compliance.

In early 2016, CloudPay and Visa won at the inaugural Global Payroll Awards for successful implementation and transformation of payroll delivery across Visa's global footprint. The award committee cited significant improvements across both HR and Payroll, along with a transformed electronic payment process across 27 countries in which Visa operates. Following that award, CloudPay was also recognized Payroll Software Product of the Year (2016) by the Payroll World Awards. This award was bestowed by a judging panel of top payroll experts hailing from leading global organizations such as Starbucks, Barclays Bank, Morgan Stanley, and GlaxoSmithKline. The judges assessed the quality of CloudPay’s software as well as its customer satisfaction rates and the level of cost savings and business benefits it delivers to clients. Other research firms and analysts in the HCM and Payroll space have also recognized CloudPay as recently as 2016: NelsonHall's named CloudPay a Leader in its 2016 assessment of global payroll services.
