The Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine (CCLCM) is a medical school in Cleveland, Ohio on the campus of the Cleveland Clinic. The school offer's Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine 5-year "college track" path to a M.D. medical degree. The school was established in 2002 with a $100 million gift from Norma and Al Lerner and is a collaboration between Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University. The first class of students was enrolled in 2004. The class size each year is 32 students.

Contents

CCLCM offers a five-year program with the goal of training physician-scientists. The third or fourth year is spent doing full-time research, and a thesis is required for graduation.

On May 14, 2008, Cleveland Clinic announced that all students entering the program would receive full tuition scholarships.

Reputation

The Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine is currently located within the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute building on the main campus of Cleveland Clinic. The school will later be relocated to a new building on the Cleveland Clinic campus upon the completion of the Cleveland Clinic-Case Western Reserve University Health Education Campus, which will house CCLCM, Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing and Case School of Dental Medicine in one single location.

CCLCM's MCAT score for the applying class of 2011 was the fourth-highest in the nation, and the school fielded 1,745 applications for 32 positions.

In 2012, 76% of graduates were matched to hospitals ranked in the top 13 of the US News & World Report Honor Roll Hospitals or within US News top-10 specialty-specific rankings for their chosen field.

From 2006-2013, the school has produced 43 Howard Hughes Medical Institute Scholars and Fellows, including two students in the inaugural class.
