Background

Born and raised in Brazil, Luciano began judo at the age of five and Brazilian jiu-jitsu at the age of seven, and received his BJJ black belt at the age of 19. Luciano is a seven-time BJJ World Champion, a six-time Brazilian BJJ Champion, a five-time Brazilian State BJJ Champion, a three-time World No Gi Champion, a six-time Pan Am Champion, and is a three-time U.S. Open Champion, among various other titles.
Early career

Luciano made his professional MMA debut in 1998 and compiled a record of 1-1 before taking a nine-year hiatus from the sport. Luciano returned to MMA in December 2007 and brought his overall record to 7-4 before being signed by Bellator MMA.

Luciano made his Bellator debut at Bellator 85 on January 17, 2013 against Mario Navarro. Luciano won via unanimous decision.

Luciano next faced Nick Piedmont at Bellator 92 on March 7, 2013. Luciano lost via TKO in the first round.
Luciano made his next appearance at Bellator 106 against Joe Camacho at a Catchweight bout of 150 lbs. on November 2, 2013. Luciano won via unanimous decision.
