Clear Springs High School is ranked 154th within Texas.

    Courses

Clear Springs High School offers the following AP courses:

    Musical theatre

Clear Springs produces a full-length musical every year which is entered into the Tommy Tune Awards. The show is produced and operated across the Choir, Theatre, and Technical Theatre departments.

    Directors

  • Producer: Kym Reeves*
  • Director: Mark Stonebarger
  • Music Director and Conductor: Rob Phillips*
  • Technical Director: Alex Stone
  • Choreographer: Rozie Curtis
  • In years before 2014-2015, Reeves' and Phillips' roles were reversed, with Reeves serving as Music Director and Phillips serving as Producer.

    Tommy Tune Awards

The Tommy Tune Awards, named after 9-time Tony winner Tommy Tune, is an annual competition of 45 Houston-area high schools which recognizes and rewards excellence in the production of musical theatre by high school students and their teachers. Clear Springs is a regular competitor in the awards with success varying by production.

Clear Springs set a record for most Tommy Tune Awards won in a single year for their 2013-2014 production of Urinetown, beating the past record (6 awards) held by Episcopal High School's 2007-2008 production of Urinetown.

Best Actress Emily Lewis(Hope Cladwell) became the first Clear Springs Charger to compete in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA) and Best Supporting Actor Stephen Louis(Officer Lockstock) became the first Clear Springs Charger to win two consecutive Tommy Tune Awards (2nd in TTA history).

With the release of the 2014-2015 nominations, both Stephen Louis and Emily Lewis set Tommy Tunes Awards records. While this information has not been checked to the archives, as some years nomination lists are not available, it is believed that Emily Lewis became the first performer to win the Lead Actress category and then be nominated in the same category the next year, and that Stephen Louis became the first performer to win two awards and be nominated for a third.

    Band

The Charger Band is headed by the Director of Bands, Lester Williams, and the Assistant Director of Bands, George Solis. Percussion Instructor is Jonathan Witmer, and Color Guard Instructor is Brewster Petron. There are three concert ensembles: the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band. The Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band are the two competing ensembles with the former competing as the varsity band.

    Title

Title is the name of a short piece of music written by the first Director of Bands, Timothy Grange. The piece is in the key of B-flat; it consists of two sets of two measures which are played simultaneously or separately and repeated continuously at various dynamics while the football team is on defense. Title is extremely popular among the student body and is often played over speakers in the school cafeteria on the day of a big varsity football game.
