Cláudio Rangel de Oliveira (Claudio Rangel) (Rio de Janeiro, December 13, 1963) is a Brazilian advertising executive and entrepreneur. He studied Communications at Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM) (São Paulo), Web Design at Bellevue College (Seattle, WA) and Photography at University of Washington (Seattle, WA). Currently, he is the President and Executive Creative Director of Range.mbs Group with offices in São Paulo (Brazil), Miami (Florida) and Las Vegas (Nevada).

Biography

Claudio Rangel has been President and Executive Creative Director of Range.mbs Group for 11 years. During his 30-year career he has dedicated himself to the development of art and photography in São Paulo receiving the Academic Cross of FALASP – Academic Federation of Arts and Letters of The State of São Paulo in 2007 for his lifetime contribution in the field of Arts and Advertising.

Early career

Claudio’s career began in 1982 in Rio de Janeiro, as a Junior Art Director at INARP Propaganda. At 20 years of age, he was Art Director of DM9 Advertising in Salvador, Bahia, working on the campaign of the former President of Brazil. In 1988, he moved to São Paulo and worked for some of the most prestigious international agencies in the city, starting at MPM Propaganda from 1988 to 1990, creating major campaigns for Fiat Motors and the City of São Paulo.

At 26 years old, he became creative director of FG Publicidade in São Paulo where his work was selected for the short list (10 best in the world) at Cannes Lions International award with the campaign “Silent” for Consul Air Conditioners. Also worked at international agencies such as, Wunderman Cato Johnson, Young & Rubicam, and Neogama BBH.

From 1993 to 97 he worked at Wunderman Cato Johnson in São Paulo and Miami offices. In 1997, he came back to Brazil where he was hired at Leo Burnett where soon after he was selected to represent the Brazilian office in the international elite team called “Magnificent Seven” who were responsible for creating campaigns for major international clients like Coca-Cola, Johnnie Walker, Kellogg's and Fiat. For Fiat, Claudio also created the new worldwide logo. Hired by Bozell Worldwide in 1998, he created the campaign to launch in the Brazilian Market the new Dodge Dakota, and several other cars from Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge (The Chrysler Group) in the same year he was hired to work for the most awarded agency in South America and one of the leading in the world, W/BRASIL (now McCann Erickson).

In 2000 after leaving W/BRASIL he worked briefly for Neogama BBH (Bartle Bogle Hegarty). Also in 2000 he was hired to work with the Creative Director at Carillo, Pastore Euro RSCG to launch the new Peugeot Cars (307, 407, 507’s). In 2001 he left the Euro RSCG to open his own agency RANGEL.MBS COMUNICAÇÕES, where he quickly acquired important accounts such as Hertz Car Rental, Marriott and Renaissance Hotels, Editora Abril, Viagem & Turismo Magazine, National Geographic Magazine, Umbra, Silit, Simple Human, Messe Frankfurt.

U.S. career

In 2007 he opened the first international office (Range.mbs Inc) located in Miami, Florida in partnership with Beber Silverstein Group. In the U.S. he continued his work for Hertz and acquired more accounts such as Ruekert Pharmaceutical, GRG Realty, Timberlake Church, BR Advisors, ETC Kitchen Products and Mast General Construction. In 2011 he was hired by Caesars Entertainment (a worldwide leader in gaming and entertainment) to be the Lead Group Graphic Designer at the Las Vegas Corporate Office.

At Caesars Entertainment, Claudio was responsible for launching the new Total Rewards, the biggest entertainment/casino loyalty program in the world, with a large national campaign with simultaneous launches in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and New Orleans. He also redesigned the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino logo. Claudio also created their local campaign and was subsequently awarded with a bronze medal at the Addy Awards.

Claudio also coordinated the launch of the new Caesars Palace Campaign and directed the creative to redesign all the Caesars Palace internal materials. Later in 2011 opened the Las Vegas office of RANGEL.MBS (RANGEL.MBS LLC) to work with Caesars Entertainment and its brands: Caesars Palace, Harrah's Casinos, Imperial Palace, Bill's Gamblin' Hall, Paris Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Bally's, Horseshoe Casinos, Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and Total Rewards. His work for Caesars Entertainment had a quick response winning several awards in the first 6 months of work for them. In 2012 he opened Rangel Photography, a new enterprise focused in the casino side of the photography business to complement the array of options offered by his group to its clients.

Social responsibility

Claudio Rangel and Rangel.mbs worked in support of the City São Paulo Social Assistant Secretary in a project (PROJETO OFICINA BORACEA) giving trash recyclers the opportunity to be included in the professional market, teaching them new techniques of recycling, how to trade and commercialize their “merchandise” and also how they use their profit to change their lives. Claudio used his advertising skills to create an ad campaigns to bring awareness to the city that they could invest in this project that would ultimately help to lower the gap between economic classes and create a better future for those in need.

In addition to being a recognized award-winning advertising professional, Claudio Rangel, in his unwavering dedication to social causes in his home country and in the United States, also participates in programs such as Feed the Children and Compassion International.
